Autobiography

I was born and reared in the small Swiss community of Berne, Indiana. There I had the blessing of growing up on a small farm and in a home characterized by stability, security, and encouragement. Both of my parents were genuine believers in Jesus Christ. Consistent church attendance was part of our family life. Because of this I heard the Gospel preached, and I received Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord when I was 14 years of age.

By the time I was a senior in high school I was convinced of God's call to preach His word. Following graduation I enrolled at Bob Jones University where I eventually earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in Bible. A young lady from Tulsa, Oklahoma captured my attention during these college years, and following my graduation we were married in August of 1967. Pat and I are parents of one daughter and two sons.

I have functioned in pastoral ministries in three states. Immediately out of graduate school I ministered as an assistant pastor in northwest Iowa, and then back to pastor in northwest Indiana. The Lord brought us to Holmen Baptist Church in May of 1996. This has been the most fruitful place of ministry when compared with each of the other places we have been.

We really are enjoying and are thrilled with the ministry at Holmen Baptist Church. I feel highly privileged to be teaching, expounding, and proclaiming the eternal, living Word of God. I am confident of the inherent power and the adequacy of God's word to meet the needs of the human heart. I would welcome the opportunity to serve anyone who is hungry for God's truth and grace.
